2004-03-15 - 5:06 p.m. We arrived in Charleston around 6pm. I love this town. After we set up, checked and had a bite to eat I decided to take a walk down East Bay to The Battery. This is the real old part of town. The old mansions along the bay are beautiful. They look unusual because the thin side of the houses face the street. This is because back then they taxed the property on how much of your dwelling faced the road! I don’t walk to the far side of the Battery but turn right and then right again down a cobblestone alley that takes you behind the rows of mansions on the bay. The sun has just set and the air is filled with wonderful smells. It’s a mixture of blooming jasmine and dinner cooking. It’s quiet and there’s a soft glow to everything in the fading light. This walk is just what the doctor ordered. The first game of the World Series is on and the Yanks take it. I’m optimistic about their chances to take it all. The gig goes great. Nice crowd, but I’m eager to be getting home. Click here to go to go to my website
